Efforts will include review and analysis of all hydrographic and sedimentation data, hydrographic surveys, river modeling and collaborative assessment of causes and alternatives with stakeholders within the impacted reaches.
A Federally funded investigation of the causes and likely progression of bed lowering in the Missouri River between river miles 340 and 400 is requested with a view to identifying justified measures for control or remediation of the condition.
This is a critically important effort as millions of dollars of Federal investment and local infrastructure more than a million citizens can be imminently adversely affected.
Authorization exists under Sec 216 of the Flood Control Act of 1970, evaluation of Missouri River Bank Stabilization and Navigation Project (BSNP).
